Worldcoin has announced a partnership with Alchemy to develop the infrastructure for its blockchain, World Chain, which will host its World ID and World App. This collaboration will provide World Chain developers with access to Alchemy’s comprehensive Web3 developer platform, including core and data APIs, indexing solutions, and a suite of other necessary tools.

These tools will also feature an account abstraction infrastructure designed to enhance the safety and security of self-custodial wallets within the World Chain ecosystem. Additionally, Alchemy will integrate World ID into its toolkit, enabling millions of developers worldwide to access this digital ID technology.

Focus on Human-Centric Blockchain

Noam Hurwitz, Alchemy’s engineering lead, expressed confidence that the partnership will drive significant progress toward bringing a billion users on-chain and expanding opportunities for developers to create user-focused applications.

World Chain, introduced in April 2024, is a blockchain designed for human-centric applications. It will work alongside Optimism, Coinbase, and the wider Ethereum ecosystem as part of the Superchain, pending its migration from the OP mainnet. World Chain will serve as the new home for Worldcoin’s World ID, which users obtain after completing an iris scan at one of the global orbs, as well as the World App.

Infrastructure for Large-Scale Operations

World Chain’s optimization leverages verified World IDs to provide holders with priority blockspace and a free gas allowance for casual transactions, helping to eliminate bots and improve developer access to real users.

Steven Smith, head of protocol at Tools for Humanity, emphasized that World Chain aims to be the first blockchain designed specifically for humans and the largest on-ramp for human users to come on-chain. He noted that partnering with Alchemy was a strategic choice due to its proven track record of ensuring uptime and reliability for major enterprises.
