Apple is expanding its AI initiatives with a focus on education. The company announced on Tuesday that it will train all Apple Developer Academy students and mentors on AI fundamentals. Alumni of the Academy will also have the opportunity to participate in this training.
Starting this fall, students will learn to build, train, and deploy machine learning models across Apple devices. The courses will cover AI technologies and frameworks, including Core ML, which delivers fast performance on Apple devices. The training will also guide students on how to build and train AI models from scratch.
This new curriculum will be offered to thousands of students and alumni across 18 Developer Academies located in Brazil, Indonesia, Italy, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, and the United States.
Apple highlighted that new technologies and APIs introduced at WWDC last week will provide students with more tools for app development. Swift Assist, a feature in Xcode 16, will aid developers in various tasks, allowing students to experiment with new ideas. Additionally, Swift 6 will offer new capabilities to improve code clarity and facilitate concurrent programming.
Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, expressed enthusiasm about the new curriculum, stating, “With the introduction of curriculum dedicated to AI and other new technologies, we’re excited to see what students will build to share with their communities and the world.”
